Thanks for the lyrics. Beautifully haunting, rhythmic and calming, I love this song.
by ? on 6/10/2008 1:36pm
it's a good interpretation, but it's way wrong... thats if it were written how it wounds, not in the actual gealic...
by Amber in NJ on 7/12/2008 9:33am
calming, relaxing, i got into this music when i was just about 6 and my mom worked at a spa. they played it all the time. now as a 13 year old girl, i listen on my zune.

i love this song, as a 15 year old high school student, i find this song as a stress reducer.. love enya!
by Mat on 11/5/2008 1:19am
Can't we get an English translation of this song anywhere?
by Lillie on 11/24/2008 5:22pm
I love this song. mysterious, haunting, makes me think of the kind of music they'd listen to way back when.
by Adam on 1/13/2009 10:04pm
Yeah, it's a transliteration by someone who obviously does speak Gaelic, though.
by Olaia on 1/31/2009 6:56am
I thing the person who wrote this had copied it of the CD's booklet. It's nearly imporible to know what she's singing...
I was 10 when my mum and I got into this disc of enya, and now i'm 17 i still love it!
by Shay on 2/8/2009 7:21pm
Thanks for writing it out the way you pronounce it. It helped a lot (:
by Shay on 2/8/2009 7:25pm
My mum says I would here her on the radio when I was 2 and go, 'enya?'. haha (: and i was obsessed with this disks. I would print out pictures, and everything.
by faith on 3/6/2009 2:29am
i'v always loved enya, since my dad used to play it when i was little...this song has always been my fav though, especially after my brother listened for a whole day till he learnt to sing it, and then i found out my bf luvd it too.
by Kat on 4/15/2009 3:40pm
I found this CD less than a year ago on my own after I moved here. (It's still not been a year since I moved. *Sniff*) But it's so pretty! I love singing along to it. Especially the very first line.

by Rob on 7/25/2009 3:41am
Does anyone have the correct Gaelic for this song, and possibly the translation?
by Harmony on 8/3/2009 7:12pm
Apparently the only lyrics that have been officially published are the three lines of the bridge, but my father-in-law speaks Gaelic and he might be able to figure it out by ear.

*crosses fingers*

ROFLMAO!

The ONLY parts of this that are in Irish Gaelic are:

Amharc, mn ag obair l ‘s mall san och’,
Ceolann siad ar laetha geal, a bh,
Bealach fada annon ‘s anall a choch’.

The rest is mouth lilting. It's sounds that are not necessarily words.
by Narcis on 12/22/2009 4:59pm
It needs some modifications in some places but it's 95% the way it's supposed to sound. Thanks:)
by pajero of cameroon on 1/14/2010 11:48am

I think enyas music is very realaxing . I hearing this for the first time when NY dad is playing it.. and this is approximately 10 years ago. I'm 19 now. I LOVE ENYA
by Jason on 11/20/2010 7:11pm
I read someplace that the lyrics are indeed "mouth lilting" ... that Enya's intent was to imitate the sounds of conversation you might hear from another room while you were drifting off to sleep ....
by ckj on 12/10/2010 2:22am
Get it translated in French or English.Beyong amazing
by deng jinliang on 12/13/2010 7:34pm
wonderful
by Aoibheal McCarthaigh on 2/8/2011 12:07am
Whoever wrote this original first post should be embarassed.
Learn Gaelic....or at the very slight, google the words instead of phonetically typing it down in English
You do my language harm with this garbage
by Aoibheal McCarthaigh on 2/8/2011 12:12am
Amharc, mná ag obair lá 's mall san oích',
Ceolann siad ar laetha geal, a bhí,
Bealach fada anonn 's anall a chóich'.
Look, women working by day and late at night,
They sing of bright days that were,
A long way back and forth forever.

by leigh mackenzie on 2/17/2011 10:36pm
I love this song, I was at a Pilates class and this song was played and I was hooked, this song brings peace to me and makes me happy.
by Lillian on 4/6/2011 12:41am
Ojibwa Prayer it is ojibwa so what was said abaut e rest is mouth lilting. It's sounds that are not necessarily words. Is not true. It is a prayer in ojibwa.
Regards Lillian
by DaVinchi... on 4/22/2011 2:21am
I so love dis song...
by Kat on 5/17/2011 9:02pm
I love this song and Enya alike. My husband-to-be and I have Enya playing in the house all day everyday. It's great music to live and love by. I am 20, and I have been listening to Enya since I was a small child. It was our taste in music that Philip and I first found in common with one another.
by Dawn on 6/6/2011 11:58am
Aoibheal, she wrote the gaelic almost exactly as you did. The phonetic parts are the rest of the song, which are likely not gaelic (at least, they don't sound gaelic to me). Also, it is SO NOT mouth lilting, but clearly words. Lillian, I can find no credible reference to the fact that it is the Ojibwa great spirit prayer...are you sure? I'm dying to know what this is!
by Ngalim Franklin on 6/23/2011 2:50pm
This song is very cute. Enya, you're wonderful
by Oyisi Nigeria on 7/29/2011 2:25pm
I luv this song! Its jst amazing bt i'll luv to knw wat it means.
by Terry King on 8/5/2011 2:19pm
found this translation..it was said this was a gaelic translation of an Ojibwa Prayer

Oh Great Spirit who's voice i hear in the winds
and who's breathe gives life to everyone
Hear me

I come to you as one of your many children, i am weak and small.
I need your wisdom and strength. Let me walk in beauty.
Make my hands respect the things you have made, and make my ears sharp
so that i may hear your voice. The lessons you have hidden in each leaf and every rock.
I ask for wisdom and strength, not to be superior to my brothers but to be able to fight
my greatest enemy............Myself
Make me ever ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eye. So as life fades
away as a fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.
Allow your heart to open like a flower and give the many blessings to those around you.
Allow your soul to fly free as it once did.
May you be ever blessed with abundance of infinite love and light

by Rin Kagamine on 12/22/2012 1:38am
My mom and dad went hiking in Scotland and found enya and I used to listen to it and just recently my mom put it on again cause I like Capercalie another galic band thing. I was flicking through songs and heard this one and now I'm hooked.
by Arev T on 2/18/2013 8:15pm
The only part of the song that is actual Irish - Gaelic is the middle verse. For those of you who think that know the translation for the rest of the lyrics, well, you are way wrong, wrong, wrong. There is no actual translation to it. True, some words may sound Gaelic or Ancient English, but they are really the interpretation of Roma Ryan.
by Olivia on 5/25/2013 7:20am
Irish music is just beautiful. I think if you can listen to a song without knowing what they're saying and still think it's beautiful then the song is a masterpiece :)
by Oladayo Festus on 6/17/2013 2:02pm
