Basically if someone believes in a god they can't just praise the good stuff, but praise the bad stuff. Maybe there's a reason that they focus on the good stuff only, one wouldn't want to lose faith in something they've had ingrained.

I get why this is funny - it is quite witty after all.

It saddens me though that it only takes a Monty Python song to persuade some that God, if he exists, is the author of evil and suffering. Could it be that all of the most beautiful and wonderful things in creation are a remnant of what once was, and what is corrupt and awry is the handiwork of those who thought they knew better than their Creator?

I make choices daily (regretfully) that contribute toward the chaos of our world... am I alone in this? Or is my life a microcosm of humanity's condition?

Its point is simply that it's an answer to theists, usually Christians, who come out with the cliche, when they refer to one of the many beautiful things in nature," How can anyone believe that all this happened by accident? Surely something as wonderful as this must have a creator." Well, if you like, I say,just like the ingenuity that goes into, for example, the disease rabies, or the tapeworm.

Nasty things evolved millions, if not billions of years before humans came along. The universe is chaotic and meaningless, just accept and get on with your life as best you can.

Facepalm. No, it's not a commentary on theology, it's a COMEDY SKETCH. The Pythons succeed once again in simultaneously making both fundamentalist believers and frothing atheists look ridiculous - the former for being indignant at paraphrasing a childrens' song and the latter for thinking it is in any way an affirmation of THEIR chosen equally unprovable theism.
If either side really are dumb enough to take the song seriously, the answer to why god 'made' nasty stuff instead of just nice stuff, the answer is in Genesis. Near the front. But preschool children do not need that, they need wonder at beauty. So having 'children' sing this parody is... COMEDY. Nothing more. Nothing less. Frankly, people, "Duh".
